Lough Guitane was upgraded with a cryptosporidium barrier and a more advanced treatment process, along with new raw water abstraction, filtration, disinfection and clear water storage. It now produces 51 million litres of treated drinking water a day for Tralee, Killarney, Castleisland, Castlemaine and the communities around them.

The scheme took the region off the Environmental Protection Agency's Remedial Action List, was delivered on programme and within budget, and was named Engineering Project of the Year at the Engineers Ireland Excellence Awards in 2018. We supported it with the engineering on the precast elements.
